The Georgetown Chamber of Commerce and Industry has been in existence since 1889. It is the oldest and most prestigious Private Sector representative body in the country. From its inception, the Chamber was tasked with the promotion of trade and industry at the local, regional and international level. Undoubtedly the macroeconomic environment that the Chamber operates within plays a major role in influencing way the organization functions.

LEAP is a Government of Guyana and European Union programme with the objective of fostering entrepreneurship and enterprise for economic development of the town of Linden.

In April 2000 the Guyana Marine Turtle Conservation Society (GMTCS) was set up as an NGO, to handle grants, establish no-fishing zones

The Tourism & Hospitality Association of Guyana is a member of the Private Sector Commission. It is an umbrella body of all Tourism related entities. Members include hoteliers, resort owners, tour operators, travel agents, restaurants, jewellery and craft shops, transportation services among others. This association was formed twelve years ago by a small group of five persons. THAG is also a member of the Caribbean Hotel Association.

The Guyana Linux Users Group is a network of individuals who are interested in the use of Linux and other Free and Open Source Software. The first informal meeting was held at the SDNP office on May 24th 2000. We are working on increasing membership as Linux is not well known in Guyana.
